Traceback vs MaskOff: Which No Caller ID App Fits You in Israel? (2026)
A factual comparison, based on what each app publishes
Traceback and MaskOff do the same core job: when a hidden number calls you, you decline the call, and the app shows you the real number. The differences are in carriers, price and extras. Here is a side-by-side comparison for Israel, based on what each app publishes in its store listing and on its website (checked November 2026).
How both apps work
Both use conditional call forwarding, a standard feature of Israeli carriers. You set it up once, and from then on a hidden call that you decline goes to the app's service instead of to voicemail. The service sees the original number and shows it to you in the app.
So the same rules apply to both:
- Decline the call. If you answer, the number is not identified. On iPhone, press the side button twice.
- Only calls after setup. Neither app can identify hidden calls you got before installing it.
- Your plan matters. On some plans you need to ask your carrier to turn on call forwarding before setup.
- One app at a time. Your line can forward calls to only one place, so you can't run both together.
- Spoofing is different. If a caller shows a fake number, there is no hidden number to identify. Both apps work on No Caller ID, private and blocked calls.

Which one fits you
- You want call recording: MaskOff records calls. Traceback doesn't.
- You want to know the price up front: Traceback lists its weekly, monthly and annual prices on its pricing page.
- You're documenting harassment: both let you create a PDF report of a call to keep or share with someone who can help.
- You also work from a computer: Traceback has a web app, so you can see identified calls on your computer too.
- You need help in Arabic or Russian: Traceback's help center is in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English.
- You're on Golan Telecom: both support Golan today. In both, setup happens in your personal area on Golan's website, not by dialing a code.
The identification itself works the same way in both, so the best test is your own line: start a free trial, decline the next hidden call, and check that the number comes through.
Get started with Traceback
- Download Traceback from the App Store or Google Play and start the trial.
- Choose your carrier and dial the forwarding code the app shows. You do this once.
- Next time a hidden number calls, decline the call. The real number appears in the app within seconds.
Carrier guides: Pelephone, Cellcom, Partner, HOT Mobile, Golan Telecom and every supported carrier.
FAQ
Can I use both apps together? No. Each one needs your line's call forwarding, and your line can forward to only one place. If you switch from one to the other, set up forwarding again in the new app.
Which one is cheaper? Traceback lists ₪14.90 a week, ₪29.90 a month and ₪249.90 a year. MaskOff's App Store listing shows in-app purchases from ₪17.90 to ₪349.90 without the billing period, so compare the price inside each app before you subscribe.
Do I need to answer the call to identify the number? No, the opposite. Decline the call. Declining is what sends it to be identified.
Can these apps identify calls I got before installing them? No. Both identify only calls that reach them after setup. If the caller calls again from a hidden number after setup, their number will be identified.
