iPhone: How to Identify Unknown Calls

Traceback Team
2 min read

Tired of "No Caller ID" and "Unknown" showing up instead of a real number? With Traceback set up on your iPhone, you can identify these calls and see who's really behind them.

Identify Unknown Calls with Traceback

Make sure call forwarding is set up: dial the forwarding code the Traceback app shows for your carrier (it looks like 67#).

When a No Caller ID or Unknown call comes in, decline it.

The call forwards to Traceback and our system reveals the number.

You'll see the revealed number, plus a name if it's in our database or your synced contacts.

Privacy Note

Traceback identifies a hidden caller using the forwarded call only. A name appears when the number is in our database or your synced contacts, otherwise you'll see just the revealed number.

Troubleshooting

The call wasn't identified. Confirm forwarding is active, that you declined the call, and that voicemail didn't answer first.

I only see a number, no name. That's normal when the number isn't in our database or contacts. Sync your contacts to catch known callers.

Spoofed-looking numbers aren't revealed. Traceback identifies No Caller ID and Unknown calls, not spoofed (faked) numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I identify an unknown call on iPhone?

With Traceback set up, decline the No Caller ID or Unknown call. It forwards to us and the number is revealed.

Can I see the name, not just the number?

Yes, when the number is in our database or your synced contacts. Sync contacts in Settings to match known callers.

Does identifying a blocked number work on any iPhone?

It works on supported Israeli carrier lines (not prepaid or Wecom) with call forwarding set up.

Why is a call still showing as Unknown?

Make sure you declined it and the call forwarded to us before voicemail picked it up.
